Whether made of steel or heterogeneous materials, the tanks are designed to take up a pressure of 500 bars (2.5 times more than what it usually contains). They are, however, equipped with thermal fuses; with a temperature of 100°C, they automatically melt and trigger off safety valves that slowly releases gas into the atmosphere without any danger.
The bus tanks are fixed on the rooftop above, in a compartment separated from the passengers' cockpit . For all other vehicles, the tanks are fixed on the lower part (partie basse) equipped with flow limits that automatically switch off if a rupture occurs in the pipe.
The tanks have successfully passed crash tests and have proved to be bullet and grenade resistant .
Setting the tanks demands a vigorous control as they must be extremely well fastened in case of any violent collision.
Gas storage in tanks is only done when in a state of gas . BLEVE (Boiling Liquid Effect Vapour Explosion) in no manner can be produced.
Known for being an inflammable substance at a very high temperature (580°), and of light density that makes it easier to evacuate and disperse in the atmosphere, these natural qualities of gas contribute to the vehicles safety.
